“Happiness is the only thing that doubles when you share it.”
Albert Schweitzer, physician, philosopher, theologian, musician, and pacifist
The foundation views life as a journey across the open sea: full of opportunities, challenges, and unpredictable storms. Children and young people who grow up in disadvantaged circumstances, in particular, often embark on this journey without a clear sense of direction and without the resources they need to realize their full potential. The Koradi Foundation aims to open up new horizons for these young people through sailing—both literally and figuratively.
We believe that young people thrive when they are given responsibility, trust, and new horizons. The Koradi Foundation combines the power of the sea with personal development and provides young people with formative sailing experiences that build courage, open up new perspectives, and foster a sense of community.

Learning Through Experience
Sailing is more than just a sport: It is a space for experience where community, responsibility, mindfulness, and courage are lived out firsthand. Young people learn that every action has a consequence—whether it’s setting a sail, working together with the crew, or dealing with the forces of nature. This direct experience is an effective learning environment for building self-confidence, resilience, and the ability to take responsibility for oneself and others.
Scientific Approach
The foundation grounds its work in scientific principles. Through monitoring and ongoing evaluation, the participants’ individual development processes are documented and studied. Psychological, pedagogical, and social science methods ensure that the program’s effectiveness remains measurable and can be continuously improved. Research partnerships with universities and specialized institutions ensure quality and make the foundation a model project in social education.
Self-Confident People for a Better Society
The central goal is to strengthen character: Young people should recognize their own potential, develop self-confidence, and gain self-assurance. The foundation views every child and young person not merely as someone in need, but as a future shaper of our society. By gaining inner strength, social responsibility, and confidence in their own agency, they contribute to an open, united, and sustainable society.
Compass of Values
- Freedom—like at sea: developing the courage to forge one’s own path.
- Responsibility—for oneself, the crew, and the community.
- Connection to Nature – respect and mindfulness toward the environment.
- Scientific Approach – systematic reflection and evaluation of our actions.
- Hope – the conviction that every person can grow and reshape their life.
- The foundation aims to promote and support children, adolescents, and young adults—particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds—in their personal, academic, professional, and social development. The foundation is a nonprofit organization.
The Foundation aims to open up new horizons for children, adolescents, and young adults and to help them lead self-determined, responsible, and fulfilling lives. To this end, it supports activities in the areas of education, culture, sports, health, nature and environmental experiences, and social integration.
The foundation may both develop and implement its own projects and support initiatives by third parties, provided they serve the foundation’s purpose. Particular importance is placed on innovative educational and experiential settings that foster self-confidence, resilience, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility—for example, through pedagogically guided nature and sailing experiences.
In addition, the foundation strives to have its work scientifically monitored and evaluated in order to assess the effectiveness of its measures and continuously improve them. The purpose is deliberately broad so that the foundation can respond flexibly to new societal challenges.
